WildStar Launch Patch Fixes Infinite Loading, Bugs, Poor FPS, Freezing and Lagging

Just before launch, WildStar servers went down for a patch at approximately 10:30 PST, bringing the following good news: no more infinite loading screens; PVP realm players can now roll toons in both factions; and Boom Boxes can now be properly claimed. The full patch notes, which are short but quite sweet, are below:

Build 6714
  • Factional restrictions have been removed from the realm PvP rule-set. In essence, you may now create both Exile and Dominion characters on the same PvP-flagged realm!
  • Fixed a bug that would occasionally cause an “infinite loading screen” on particularly busy realms.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes prevent a Boom Box from being claimed.
  • Anachrondax will no longer grant experience points when slain.
  • The Meteor Crater FABkit has had its level reduced to 8.
  • Fixed a bug with the “guest” realm queue.
  • Fixed a bug with the realm queue, which under rare conditions, could cause it to stop functioning.
  • Added video.framerateMax console variable which can be used to adjust the maximum allowed framerate.
  • Switched to using raw mouse data for relative mouse movement. This will allow users with high-precision mice to look and turn much more accurately.
  • Fixed a performance problem which would have affected users using Windows 7 running in non-Fullscreen Exclusive mode.
  • Fixed a remaining UI bug where players who had purchased the game were being shown as a “guest” in realm queue.
  • Improved overall game performance and graphics optimization.

While this is all well and good, you might continue to encounter crashes, errors, freezing, and lagging in WildStar on patch day. Be sure to check out our Top 10 Fixes for Wildstar PC Crash, Stuck or Can’t Install, DX 10 or 11 errors, Patch server connection, Invalid account, Optima graphics.

Top 10 Fixes for Wildstar PC Crash, Stuck or Can't Install, DX 10 or 11 errors, Patch server connection, Invalid account, Optima graphics

Wildstar is an MMORPG that is set on another planet. You can choose between two dueling factions, the Exile and the Dominion. From there, you can choose between 6 classes, each which have their own unique paths. You can do solo paths, PvP, and large group PvE as well. However, with every game, there tends to be issues. Below you will find some of the most common questions and issue people have with Wildstar.

Top 10 Fixes for Wildstar PC Crash, Stuck or Can’t Install, DX 10 or 11 errors, Patch server connection, Invalid account, Optima graphics

1) Installation Issues (Failed install or stuck at 0%)

This problem can be attributed to a multitude of issues, how ever the most common tends to deal with your firewall. Try disabling your firewall and then checking the download again. If that is not the issue, it might be because you are not running the game as an administrator on your computer. You will first need to create a desktop shortcut from the .exe file. From there, right click the icon, go to properties, and within the properties window, there will be a tab for compatibility. Click on that tab and look for the privilege level box. Make sure to check the box labelled “run program as Administrator.” After that, click OK, and you should be able to run the program for the shortcut you created.

2) Unable to run with DirectX 10 / DirectX 11

Wildstar does have problems at times running with higher end graphics cards, so running the program in DirectX9 will generally solve the issue. Once again, you’ll want to create a shortcut from the .exe file in the Wildstar folder. once that shortcut is created, right click the icon, and click on properties. Within properties, you’ll want to locate the Target line, and at the end of it, add a space followed by the phrase “-dx9”. Click okay to save the changes, and run the program from the shortcut you created.

3) Crash even with 4GB Ram

While the download requirements only say the 4GB of Ram is necessary, there is still a persisting issue that downloads are failing stating that this issue is because there isn’t enough Ram. The developers of Wildstar are currently working to resolve this issue, but as of yet there are no fixes. We will update when news of a patch or solution is released.

4) Patch server connection failure

This issue tends to be along the same lines as that issue of a failed installation, where the problem occurs due to a conflict between your firewall or your permissions. Refer to the Installation Issues problem on how to resolve either of those two issues. If the problem still persists after checking your firewall and permissions, the issue could be due to background processes that are running. To disable background processes, a step by step guide for both Windows Vista/7 and Windows 8 can be found here: https://wildstar.zendesk.com/entries/56868573-Disabling-Background-Processes

5) Unable to use Optima graphics cards

For this you need to go ahead and force run Wildstar. In order to do this, right click on your desktop and select the option for manage 3d settings. From the select the program settings and find the wildstar.exe under the select a program to customize setting. Once there, you will select the high-performance nvidia processor from the selection of preferred graphics processors.

6) Disable auto-run for the patcher

Right click on your short cut and go into the properties. Under the shortcut tab, there should be a target field which is displaying the program file location. At the end of the field, type in the following “-norun” without the quotation marks. With this, the patcher will open with automatically running the game

7) Invalid game account

This one is easy. If you have recently activated a pre-order code or just used your activation code, there will be 1 to 2 hour delay before the game will recognize your login. Simply wait for that 1 to 2 hour period, and your login should work after that. This same issue also applies if it seems that your bouncing between NA and eu servers.

8) Login issues, stuck in queue with no character options once in

The simplest step is to go into your computer and go to the location : C:Users(username)/AppData/Roaming/NCSoft/Wildstar. Replace the (username) in the line with your own personal user name. From there, simply delete all the data in that folder, and the issue should be fixed.

9) Vanishing nameplates

This issue is also going to be solved by booting up Wildstar in DirectX9. To learn how to do that see, above under “Unable to run with DirectX10 / DirectX 11” to see how to run in DirectX9.

10) Unable to uninstall client

If you are trying to uninstall to reinstall the client, you need to make sure that there are currently no patches that need to be completed. If there are, the uninstall option will not be available.

If you have other questions or problems beyond the ones listed here, please feel free to post them in the comments section.
