The Best Way to Fix Lag and Reduce Ping for MMO, RTS, MOBA, and FPS Games

When playing multiplayer games such as  World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Dota 2, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, StarCraft 2, Guild Wars 2, and Ragnarok Online, there is one common beast that players dread facing no matter the game: the lag monster. One very ill-timed spike can leave a player vulnerable to attack in PvP and turn near victory into defeat or cause a missed heal or cure that cascades into a massive wipe. After getting the best internet connection in your area and upgrading to the best PC you can, what’s left for a player to do? Try using a global private network (GPN) connection established for gamers only.

After much extensive testing across multiple services, the Crash Wiki test team has shortlisted some of the most reliable GPN’s out there. Among these, the one that stood out on top is a service called WTFast (What the Fast) lag fixer.

Firstly, let’s just forget about the silly brand name and focus on its results. Essentially, what WTFast lag fixer does is to optimize data paths and eliminate connectivity detours such as those going through bad routers and bad traffic.

We tested WTFast lag fixer for various games across MMO, RTS/MOBA, and FPS categories. Specifically, the games tested were: World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Dota 2, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, StarCraft 2, Guild Wars 2, and Ragnarok Online.

The results were more than impressive, yielding the following benefits averaged across all games for a span of 1 month testing:

  • Average Game Ping reduced by 28%-55%
  • Speed fluctuations reduced by a massive 85-90%
  • Bad router hops tracked recued by 70%-88%

In addition, it uses a dashboard so you can monitor and have full control over your connection:

The Best Way to Update Your Old Drivers

We all know that old drivers may cause a range of problems, from diminished hardware functionality to conflicts and system crashes. Although drivers are available for free and can be updated manually, identifying outdated drivers can take a long time. Moreover, pinpointing just the right driver from the manufacturer’s website, downloading and installing it can be laborious and technically risky. To address this problem, we’ve turned to DriverScanner by Uniblue software — it is a PC driver updater application that can scan for device drivers. In this article, the Crash Wiki team reviews the effectiveness of DriverScanner to help you decide if this can help you with your driver issues. When reviewing this type of software, we really had to put it to the test. Many providers offer a similar feature set, but how accurate the scans are and what device drivers they offer varies. Each product also differs in both their security and customer service strengths. We compared DriverScanner to other driver update software, to device manufacturer scans, and to our device and driver version list; this review briefly explains our findings. DriverScanner provides the basic tools we were looking for, including a scan scheduler for registered users. This PC driver update software can manage restore points, and it provides detailed information with its scan results, such as driver version and source information. Here is the Crash Wiki low down.

Scan Results: 10/10

DriverScanner found one hundred percent of the dated drivers we were hoping to find in the scan results. This is the only driver updater software that found all 21 of the old drivers we were hoping to see in the scan results. The dated drivers it found include Nvidia, AMD, Intel and Dell drivers. The application can scan for outdated desktop and laptop drivers, and they offer drivers for some peripheral devices such as printers, scanners and webcams.

Driver Support: 8.8/10

This driver updater has access to a database of over two million drivers. DriverScanner updates the database frequently, as often as every day if needed. It has drivers for system devices for PCs, laptops and notebooks and peripherals such as keyboards, webcams, scanners and printers. It does not offer software updates, but few driver services do. It can offer compatible drivers for working with Windows XP, Vista and 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7. This driver updater provider reported to us that they offer a unique feature for installing drivers. In some cases, driver files download as a Roshal Archive (RAR) or ZIP type file that has to be unpacked. Some of these files do not come with a set up program or users do not know how to install it on their own. DriverScanner can unpack the file and install the driver via an easy to use launch wizard. Security: 10/10

DriverScanner excels at protecting your personal information and your computer. They store personally identifiable information and transaction records on limited access servers, and all information is protected with encryption. Data transfers are also encrypted for your safety. Additionally, even though it can automatically check the database for new drivers on its own, it does not actually install the drivers without your permission. All drivers are OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or Microsoft Update Service drivers, and they scan each driver file using Symantec Endpoint Protection before they download them to their servers. DriverScanner does not share your information with third-party advertisers, and it completely uninstalls when you chose to uninstall it, meaning it does not leave an executable file or other active data on your computer.

Help & Support: 7.5/10

We found limited support information online for DriverScanner, and they only offer support by an email form. However, they did respond to our email query in a reasonable amount of time, and they answered all of our questions. But you will not find extensive support online, and they do not provide telephone or chat support.

Summary

DriverScanner provides excellent scan results, is easy to use and offers safe, secure downloads. A few tools may be missing, but this is offset by the excellent capabilities that serve most needs of us gamers. You can download DriverScanner for FREE here.
