Basic troubleshooting comes first:

  1. Make sure you meet the system requirements.
  2. Update all your Windows and graphics drivers.
  3. Temporarily turn off your anti-virus software when launching the game.

2. Windows 7/8/Vista crashes the game and tries to change the visual theme

  1. Navigate to your Far Cry 3 installation Folder.
  2. Look for “farcry3.exe” and select “properties”, then Select the “compatibility tab” and select:

To fix Windows Runtime Errror crashes in Far Cry 3, install the following in order:

5. Far Cry 3 “Exception Code: c0000005” Crash Error

Disable/Close any Overlay or DirectX Hooking software before launching the game.

6. “Ubisoft Game Launcher was not found. Please try re-installing the game. Error code: 3.”

If you are getting Error Code 3, chances are there are corrupt/missing/damaged game files and or your Uplay Software is outdated.

  • For UPlay users, uninstall UPlay from your PC and reinstall from the UPlay official download link here.
  • For Steam Users, also reinstall UPlay as instructed above, and then verify the integrity of your game cache on Steam. The missing game files will be re-downloaded shortly and you should be able to play.

7. Far Cry 3 Crashes due to Resolution Errors

The most likely cause is a blank/Corrupt “GamerProfile.xml” Config file & improper resolution startup in Far Cry 3.

To fix this, you will have to make Far Cry 3 startup with the bare minimum settings which is in windowed mode, using directx 9, with Low gfx settings and with the resolution 1024×768.

  4. In the compatibility tab select the option to run as admin

This should force the game to launch up in the Steam version of Uplay.
