Lost Planet 3 Crashes on Launch, Multiplayer Looping, Change FOV, Windowed Mode, Black Screen, Intro Crash

Lost Planet 3 is a solid sequel to the LP series, getting a Famitsu score of 33/40. The reviewer puts it best, to quote:

With the game now more focused on story than earlier, you feel a better sense of loneliness in the cold than ever before. The controls are simpler, allowing even series newbies to easily join in. Some of the game feels too much like work, but the wealth of sub-missions and customization is enough to make you focus more on sidetracking at times.

Nevertheless, you will experience some odd crashes, errors, and bugs when trying to run the Lost Planet 3, so we’ve prepared a list of known fixes to these problems. Read on!

Problem #2 Saints Row IV PC Install Error: “Saints Row IV PC Install Fails, Cannot Install”

This is a Microsoft C++ bug so the quick fix is to uninstall your C++ files. If you see 2 instances of Microsoft C++, uninstall both of them; and don’t worry, they are easy to reinstall. There are also a couple workarounds online if you don’t want to uninstall them.

Problem #3 Saints Row IV PC Game Freeze Fix – Game Freezes during the Intro Video

If you’re using Steam, a quick solution is to verify the integrity of your Steam game cache to resolve the problem. If it persists, ensure that both your graphics drivers and DirectX are updated. Doing both will mostly reduce the occurrences of Saints Row IV PC freezing.

Problem #4 Saints Row IV PC Crash Fix – Game crashes when launching / upon launch

This is a typical DirectX problem. Just update to the latest DirectX version and voila. If that doesn’t work, reinstall DirectX completely.

Problem #5 Saints Row IV PC DirectX Fix – Cannot Install Direct X / Stuck at Direct X Installation

More often than not, this has been caused by other software drivers such as those from Logitech, Razer, Microsoft, etc, which normally control other minor peripherals such as your webcam, special programs, and sometimes your mouse. Simply shut them off and disable them, and try updating/installing Direct X again.

Problem #6 Saints Row IV PC Crash Fix – Possible Crash Fix for nVidia users only

Go to Nvidia control panel by right clicking the icon in the taskbar, then manage 3d settings and set ‘Threaded Optimization’ to on.

Problem #7 Saints Row IV PC Crash Fix – Possible Crash Fix for ATI/AMD users only

  4. Try using only one GPU first (turn the other one off via your nVidia / ATI graphics control panel)
  5. Try running the game in Windowed Mode (frequently works for low-end PCs)
  6. Disable anti-aliasing and filtering, restart Saints Row IV PC
  7. Disable V-sync, restart Saints Row IV PC
  8. Disable background apps, and turn off your anti-virus software
  9. In Windows 7 right-click the Saints Row IV PC exe file, go to the ‘Compatibility Mode’ tab and check ‘Disable Desktop Composition’

Read on to find your fix!

Splinter Cell Blacklist PC Crashes, Blackscreen, Freezes, Gamepad Issues, Change Resolution, Blacklist Service Unavailable

Splinter Cell Blacklist Steam Launch Crash

Here is the very popular fix for this particular crash:

Edit your VideoSettings.ini located in the following location: C:Users\DocumentsUbisoftBlacklistvideoSettings.ini (You can also search for the file by typing it in Windows Search)

Change the “WindowStyleFinal=1” option to 0 or 2.

0 = Windowed
1 = Fullscreen (default)
2 = Windowed Fullscreen

0 and 2 both allow the game to start.

If you get a crash after the intro, delete your VideoSettings.ini, start blacklist again and let it crash out. Then edit the ini and set it to 0 or 2 again.

If it stops working again try deleting the videosettings.ini, then relaunching the game. The game SHOULD crash again, and videosettings.ini should reappear. Then repeat the above steps.

Cannot find videosettings.ini

If you are unable to find this ini file, please reinstall the game on Drive C. The ini file should readily be found in the folder specified in the fix above.

Cannot change resolution

Select DX9 instead of DX11 and you will be able to change to higher resolutions. Yes, this is a bug.

UPlay launches but game does not launch

Here’s the simple fix: turn off your anti-virus and launch the game again. Let us know if this works!

Gamepad fixes

If you are having problems using your controllers, first try to uninstall any Razer Nostromo drivers if you have them — this is known to have a conflict with the Xbox 360 controller. Otherwise, follow these steps:

  1. Open up Control Panel and then go to Devices and Printers.
  2. Right click on one of your game controllers and click Game Controller Settings. Note where in the list it is. If it is not at the top proceed to the next step.
  3. Right click and remove all your other controllers (not the 360/gamepad) and let them reinstall automatically. Every controller I have easily reinstalls it’s drivers and re-adds itself to Windows.
  4. Once complete right click and check the list again and see if the 360 controller/gamepad is at the top. If so, give the game another try and see if it detects your controller. Previously for me it was detecting my flight stick as the 360 controller since it was first in the list.

Blacklist service is unavailable at this time

Update: we are gathering more information for solutions on this multiplayer bug. Please check back.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Crash Fixes, Poor FPS, APPCRASH, Intro Crash, Black Screen, Gamepad Fix

Game is not smooth – Below 30 FPS and stuttering

For some players, XCOM Declassified suffers from poor FPS despite having high-end PCs and video cards. One user reports laggy gameplay (FPS below 30) using a GTX 680 SLI which is still a relatively powerful setup with today’s standards.

To try and resolve FPS issues, we suggest the following non-exclusive fixes:

  • Turn off reflections
  • Make sure you are running on DX11
  • Use windowed mode, especially if you have an SLI setup
  • For nVidia users — disable PhysX
  • Turn off V-sync

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Crashes on Campaign intro movie (APPCRASH)

This is an error mainly for nVidia users. To fix this, just update your nVidia drivers (here’s a convenient way to update your drivers). If still it crashes, uninstall your drivers, reboot your PC, reinstall your drivers, and reboot your PC once more. Civ V BNW should run afterwards.

Payday 2 Crash Fixes, Fixing Black Screen, Steam Overlay bug, Poor FPS, Laptop Crashes, Monitor Out of Range

How to fix Payday 2 Random Crashes

As a quick fix, try disabling the Steam Overlay. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Click on Steam and click on the “Settings” button. Click on the “In-Game Settings” tab.
  2. Uncheck the box next to “Enable Steam Community In-Game” and click OK.
  3. Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, click on “Properties” and uncheck “Enable Steam Community In-Game” in the “General” tab.

If disabling the Steam Overlay does not work, please make sure that you are running the latest version of your graphics drivers. Here is a nifty trick to help.

Payday 2 Steam Overlay Bug

If you cannot seem to access the Steam Overlay (and chat/browser) while playing Payday 2, try this fix:

Go into the folder where your game files in Steam are. Right click on payday2_win32_release and select properties. Click on compatibility and select for Windows 98/ME. Create a shortcut and always start your game through the shortcut, and it will work.

Payday 2 game crash on start-up for laptop users

This bug is caused by a defective dll file. To fix it, do the following:

  1. Download the d3d9.dll here
  2. Move the file into your Payday 2 folder

The game should now run on your laptop.

Payday 2 not appearing in Steam library

If restarting Steam doesn’t fix this, delete clientregistry.blob in your Steam folder and restart steam.

For laptop users: How to force AMD/Nvidia graphics cards

Laptop users should force Payday2 to use the AMD/Nvidia card instad of the integrated one

Nvidia:

You MUST be running Nvidia driver 320.49. Older versions of the Nvidia drivers do not force the card properly.

  1. Right click your desktop
  2. NVIDIA Control Panel ->
  3. Manage 3D Settings ->
  4. Program Settings.
  5. Select Payday 2 Beta Launcher as the program then add it. The Payday2 launcher is in
  6. c:program filessteamsteamappscommonpayday2 beta
  7. Then 2. Select High Performance NVIDIA Processor.

AMD:

DO NOT SET PAYDAY 2 TO HIGH PERFORMANCE!

Follow the instructions below to set the CCC properly.

  1. Open up CCC (Mobility)
  2. Go to “Power > Switchable Graphics Method”
  3. Tick “Select the graphics processor manually or based on power source.” and click “Apply”
  4. A new option would (and should) appear under Power. This is “Power > Switchable Graphics” which was previously unavailable.
  5. In here, there should be a two buttons under “Choose a Graphics Processing Unit:”. Click on “High-performance GPU”.
  6. A confirmation should pop up asking if you want to confirm the change. Click on “Change”. You may experience your screen flickering a bit. This is normal. Your computer is switching to the AMD GPU.
  7. After it finishes, CCC should start saying that the “Current active Graphics Processing Unit” is the High-performance GPU. You may also run “dxdiag” and look in the “Display” tab and check what the device name is. If it says anything with “AMD” in it and not “Intel”

Low framerate issues on AMD graphics

Turn on Morphological Filtering using CCC and now getting flawless framerates.
Also make sure that the Wait for Vertical Refresh setting is turned to “Off Unless Application Specifies”

Payday 2 Black screen

This also solves “out of range” monitors and black bars on your screen.

First what you need to do is Show hidden folders in Windows.

Then find the folder “C:Users\AppDataLocalPAYDAY 2”
In this folder there is a file called “renderer_settings.xml”

Find the section
<d3d_device
adapter_index = “0”
resolution = “1920 1080”
windowed = “false”
refresh_rate = “60”

Edit these entries to the appropriate resolution and refresh rate.

For overscanning problems, aka black bars on the screen, tweak the refresh rate.

Payday 2 poor framerates
